Fender Custom Shop 1960 Stratocaster Relic Custom Built Ltd Faded/Aged Daphne Blue
The old-fashioned Fender quality: this Custom Built Strat is completely finished, including a beautiful Daphne Blue finish
The early 1960s marked an important transition for the Fender Stratocaster. For example, the maple fingerboard was replaced by a rosewood "slab" fingerboard, the Strat got a glitzy three-ply mint green pickguard and a thinner neck with an oval C-profile. In 2020 that is exactly 60 years ago, and the Fender Custom Shop pays tribute to the evolved Strat of the past with this 1960 Stratocaster Relic Custom Built. This is a limited edition version in a beautiful Faded/Aged Daphne Blue finish. Very very beautiful! The guitar feels and looks completely vintage correct. Think for example of the original "spaghetti" logo (1960 was the last year in which this logo was used) and the headstock decal with the text " Fender® Stratocaster® with Synchronized Tremolo", without the patent numbers behind it. Admittedly, these are features for the real freaks, but they are cool details. More eye-catching features also look as if they were applied in 1960. For example, the aforementioned Faded/Aged Tahitian Coral color with a nitro finish has been applied to the two-piece Alder body and tastefully relic'd so that you really feel like you're holding a 60-year-old instrument. The tinted quartersawn maple neck has, as mentioned before, a 1960 C-profile that is very comfortable to hold, especially in combination with the 9.5" radius of the rosewood fingerboard. Thanks to the hand-wound Texas Special pickups, the guitar has a wonderfully authentic Strat sound with bite, clarity and a vocal quality that only a real Stratocaster can have. The guitar comes with a hard case with case candy and of course a Certificate of Authenticity.
