THE LEGENDARY PRS MCCARTY MODEL WITH AN UNRIVALED 10-TOP AND GREAT CUSTOM COLOR. UNIQUE!

The very best quality: check. Vintage with modern innovation: check. A unique custom color: check. The most beautiful maple top: check! This PRS McCarty 10-Top Trampas Green Smokeburst is the pinnacle of what a boutique/high-end guitar can (and perhaps should) be. Let's talk about the looks first, because we can rightly call this McCarty an eye-catcher. First of all, the amazing 10-top stands out, where the 10 refers to the highest quality maple within the core line. The drawing in the wood is really beautiful, especially in combination with the Trampas Green Smokeburst. This color scheme is a custom color, which means that you cannot just order this finish, which makes this guitar even more unique. The finish may look even better than before thanks to the renewed CAB (nitro) finish formula. Shine like a diamond! The soul of the McCarty guitar is inspired by vintage LP style guitars from the 1950's. However - as befits PRS - this traditional formula has been given a new, more reliable and innovative look. Consider, for example, the 58/15 LT pickups that can be switched from humbucker to single coil via a push/pull potentiometer, for a wide range of beautiful, vintage-oriented tones. These Low Turn humbuckers have a somewhat milder output than most double-coil pickups, which produces an incredibly warm sound with just the right amount of definition. These pickups have always been insane, but thanks to the new TCI tuning, the split-coil modes sound even more convincing with even more sparkle. In addition, the McCarty is equipped with the special "pattern" neck profile. This profile is slightly thicker than the Pattern Thin and Regular profiles. And don't underestimate the effect of the PRS Adjustable Stoptail bridge with brass inserts. This bridge sounds a lot fuller than many other wraparound bridges, and therefore has a huge impact on the overall sound. The traditional combination of a mahogany body and neck, maple top and rosewood fingerboard completes the whole. As for the 2020 adjustments, the latest McCarty models feature the aforementioned CAB finish and TCI-tuned pickups. In our opinion, these upgrades give the guitar an even more traditional feel, without compromising on the modern and reliable character of PRS. Totally awesome!

What is TCI?

TCI is an abbreviation for Tuned Capacitance and Inductance treatment . This way of fine tuning pickups originated during the design process of the Silver Sky, in collaboration with John Mayer. Both Paul Reed Smith and John Mayer were obsessed with recreating the Stratocaster single coils from the '63 to '65 as accurately as possible, with just the right balance of highs and lows. When a pickup is wound, the coils are also capacitors (capacitance), resistors and inductors (inductance) at the same time. Until now these three elements could not be influenced separately, but Paul Reed Smith has cracked the code to isolate and fine-tune these factors. Thanks to the TCI treatment, the pickups are now even better tuned to the guitar to produce the purest guitar sound to date. TCI is therefore more than just a new kind of pick-up, it is a completely innovative process. That process is now applied to all PRS pickups offered in the Core line, with the exception of some Signature models.
