The Lionel is equipped with passive Black Label split-coil pickups, a lightweight Alder body, Canadian Hard Rock Maple neck with Indian rosewood fingerboard and of course high-quality Sandberg hardware. But the eye-catcher on the spec sheet is of course the 30" scale length, 4" shorter than a normal bass guitar. This produces a different playing feeling because the whole feels just a bit more compact, and you can use less string tension This makes the Sandberg Lionel an ideal bass guitar for people who are just starting out with bass, for lovers of a short-scale feel or for musicians who often have to switch between (electric) and bass guitar.
