Lowden: Irish guitar tradition since 1974
George Lowden has been making guitars since 1974, and you can hear and feel this years of experience with the magical combination between wood and strings in the instruments he makes. Lowden Guitars are idiosyncratic guitars, which are characterized by the special types of wood that George uses, the extreme eye for detail with which the instruments are manufactured, and the beautiful tone and looks. They are true works of art that immediately feel like coming home, and we at Dijkmans Music are therefore very proud that we can now call ourselves Lowden Dealer.
High quality, the best of the best
Lowden guitars are known worldwide for their exceptional quality. The guitars are all in balance, to the point of bizarre. This is partly due to the fantastic types of wood that are used. In addition to traditional configurations such as Adirondack Spruce with an Indian Rosewood side / back, the more exotic types such as Cocobolo, Macassar Ebony, Fiddleback Mahogany and Brazilian Rosewood also pass by in the Lowden line. Because the tonewoods are so incredibly high-quality, the fullest chord voicings sound clear and articulate, and each string and note are individually distinguishable. You really have to experience this yourself to appreciate it. In addition, all Lowden models have a very clear focus and projection, with enough sustain to keep single note lines interesting. And all this with such a voice! The guitars are like nothing else, and have a real European folksy character, without it becoming a gimmick.
