The jumbo that brings back the golden years of Gibson's SJ-200, now with a rosewood body
The Epiphone Pre-War SJ-200 Rosewood Reissue is no ordinary jumbo. It's a tribute to the original SJ-200 from the late '30s, built in a time when guitars were still hand-selected for tone and character. Epiphone has breathed new life into that spirit with an instrument that impresses both visually and acoustically, and at a price that lowers the barrier to this level of craftsmanship.
The sound is exactly what you'd expect from a pre-war jumbo: full, warm, and with a rich low end that fills the room. The solid Sitka spruce top responds directly and dynamically to your attack, while the rosewood back and sides add a deep, complex resonance you won't find as readily with a maple body. Whether you fingerpick or play with a pick, the SJ-200 Reissue always sounds bigger than the space you're playing in.
Under the hood, you'll find a solid Sitka spruce top with X-bracing, rosewood back and sides, and a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. The 20 frets feature crown inlays, the scale length is 25.5" with a 12" radius, and the Grover Rotomatic tuners ensure stable tuning. The LockTone bridge keeps everything in place, and the built-in pickup also makes the guitar suitable for live use. Finished in a timeless Vintage Sunburst lacquer that completes the pre-war aesthetic.
An instrument for the guitarist who knows what they're looking for: historical allure, modern reliability, and a tone that lingers.
