The Epiphone 1963 Firebird I Heather Poly with Gibson USA Mini Humbucker and Gibson's very first neck-through construction

The Firebird appeared in 1963 as the most ambitious guitar design Gibson had ever presented: car designer Ray Dietrich created a reversed-symmetrical body that was different from its contemporaries in every direction, and technically, the Firebird was Gibson's very first neck-through guitar. That design delivered unique sustain and a tone that sounds different from any set-neck or bolt-on guitar. Epiphone, in collaboration with the Gibson Custom Shop, has accurately reproduced the 1963 Firebird I, including its 9-piece mahogany/walnut neck-through construction.

The Gibson USA Firebird Mini Humbucker with Alnico 5 magnets is the model's original pickup: small in size but big in character, with a bright, crisp tone that fully utilizes the open articulation of the neck-through construction. The wraparound Lightning Bar bridge is stable and direct, contributing to the instrument's sustain and response. In Heather Poly, a color that matches the spirit of 1963 and gives the Firebird the period-correct look it deserves.

9-piece mahogany/walnut neck-through body and neck, Indian Laurel fretboard with Rounded C-profile and 22 frets on 24.75" scale, Kluson banjo-style planetary tuners and nickel hardware. Includes hardshell case.

The 1963 Firebird I Heather Poly is for the guitarist who wants to understand why, after more than 60 years, the Firebird still sounds different from everything else out there.
