This Fender Custom Shop ’63 Precision Bass brings the sixties to life
A distinctly vintage look, but as a trade-in in unplayed condition: this 2024 Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition ’63 Precision Bass combines two worlds. The Faded 3-Tone Sunburst finish received a factory Heavy Relic treatment, with deliberately applied wear to the paint and hardware. Beneath this lived-in presentation is a two-piece selected alder body with a nitrocellulose finish. The result is a Precision Bass that puts the classic design of the early sixties front and center, without you having to search for an actual sixty-year-old instrument.
The Custom Shop hand-wound ’62 P-Bass pickup forms the beating heart of this bass. Expect the full, direct Precision sound that firmly anchors a bass part within a band, with enough definition to keep the nuances of your attack audible. From smooth finger accompaniment to emphatic pick parts: the simple passive controls leave room for your playing. With master volume and master tone, you control the balance between openness and warmth, without an extensive preamp between you and the amplifier.
The quarter-sawn maple neck features a sixties-era oval C-shaped profile and a round-lam rosewood fretboard. The 7.25-inch radius, twenty medium jumbo 6150 frets, and vintage clay dot inlays connect the classic design with a concrete playing feel. Furthermore, this edition is equipped with a leg-slotted top-loading headstock, vintage-style tuners, a four-saddle vintage-style bridge, and a brown tortoiseshell pickguard. The black Fender Custom Shop hard case is included.
This bass is in unplayed condition as a trade-in. The visible aging is part of the factory Heavy Relic finish and is not an indication of intensive use by the previous owner. All parts are original. Before shipping or pickup, the instrument is inspected and, if necessary, broken in by our technician.
A characterful Custom Shop Precision for those who take the classic bass role seriously and like to decide for themselves how the next chapter sounds.
