The J-185 Century that Revives Gibson's Jumbo Tradition in a 12-Fret Package
The Gibson J-185 Century 12-Fret Vintage Sunburst is an instrument with a distinct identity: the full body of a jumbo, the intimate playing experience of a 12-fret neck, and a finish that harks back to Gibson's golden years. For the guitarist seeking warmth, volume, and character in one instrument.
The Sitka spruce top with X-bracing projects brightly and powerfully, while the mahogany back and sides provide a warm, mid-focused tone with good definition. The 12-fret neck-to-body joint allows the top more room to resonate, resulting in a richer, fuller sound than a standard 14-fret setup. The Slim Taper mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard and MOP dot inlays plays smoothly and comfortably, even in higher positions.
The 24.75" scale length and twenty frets make this a versatile instrument for fingerpicking, accompaniment, and singer-songwriter work. The rosewood belly bridge and Grover Rotomatic tuners ensure stable intonation and tuning. No built-in pickup, which keeps the acoustic integrity of the instrument completely intact. Supplied with a hard case.
A jumbo with soul and history, built for the guitarist who knows what they're looking for.
