Also called the J-Bass, this bass guitar was launched in 1960 as Fender's new "deluxe" bass model. The Jazz Bass was characterized by its slim offset body, a particularly narrow and comfortable neck and so-called dual concentric "stacked" control potentiometers with which a wide range of usable and particularly beautiful bass sounds could be produced. The Jazz Bass became an instant success, and this beautiful instrument has become an integral part of the modern music world.

On the occasion of this milestone in both Fender history and general bass guitar history, the Fender Custom Shop releases this Time Machine 1960 Jazz Bass Heavy Relic. This breathtaking replica embodies the soul and character of the original, while offering a number of upgrades that will make any bass player happy. The Heavy Relic finish of the two-piece alder body is completely period correct and feels like a played-in piece from 1960. The quartersawn maple neck is incredibly comfortable, thanks to the 1.5" nut width and the 1960s "U" neck profile. is unlacquered, so you have great playability at all times, even under the warmest conditions. The 9.5" radius of the fingerboard finishes it off. The two hand-wound Custom Shop vintage Jazz Bass pickups sound complete, offering the same versatility that made the original so well known and loved. And then that 4-ply brown shell pickguard.. What a picture! Of course including deluxe hardshell case, strap and COA
