The Custom Shop Dreadnought that Combines Martin's Richest Materials and Most Refined Detailing
This Martin Custom Shop D 14-Fret is an instrument you don't just come across every day. With a solid Adirondack Spruce top and solid Guatemalan Rosewood for the back and sides, this dreadnought represents a tonewood combination that is exceptional even within Martin's Custom Shop. Adirondack Spruce is known for its high stiffness and exceptional dynamics: the top responds extremely quickly to every stroke and delivers a wide dynamic range that goes from whisper-soft to full and powerful. Guatemalan Rosewood adds deep, complex basses and crystal-clear trebles with a midrange that sounds richer and fuller than Brazilian or Indian rosewood.
The Scalloped X-Brace construction gives the top maximum freedom to resonate, while the Style 45 Black Maple Fiber rosette and Style 45 Snowflake inlays on the black ebony fingerboard underscore the aesthetic ambition of this instrument. The Modified Low Oval neck shape in selected hardwood with a satin finish lies comfortably in the hand for both chord playing and fingerpicking. The Modern Belly bridge and Grover Nickel Vintage Button tuners complete an instrument that, in every detail, lives up to Martin's heritage.
No pickup, no cutaway: purely acoustic and built to last a lifetime. A Custom Shop Martin that will only sound more beautiful and fuller with age.
