Versatility is a frequently heard term when it comes to Paul Reed Smith guitars. That can sometimes get boring as a reader, but every guitar from this brand is an all-rounder in its own unique way. And the PRS 509 is absolutely the case: this guitar can rightly be called unique. The basis for this amazing guitar is formed by the well-known combination of a Carved Figured Maple top and a Mahogany body. The exciting part starts with the elements. For the PRS 509, 5 single coil pickups have been chosen, of which the outer two pairs can work as humbuckers. If we count quickly, this yields 9 tone options. Hence the name 509! This way you can effortlessly switch from an almost Strat-like sparkle to the full warm sound we know from the McCarty. In addition, the length of this guitar can also be called unique. With the 25.25" scale, the 509 is longer than the Custom 24, and slightly shorter than the Silver Sky. This gives the guitar a special sparkle in the highs, and an almost elastic tightness in the low end. What a fantastic instrument!
