The RF-x is a lightweight reflection filter. It ensures that you can still make a detailed vocal recording in an acoustically untreated room. It stops reflections from walls behind the microphone. And also ensures that the sound that comes into the microphone has less noise. You get a nice dry recording that allows you to determine the exact amount of reverb yourself.
Because the hood is made of plastic, it can easily be attached to a normal microphone stand without it becoming top-heavy.
