The Queen of Acoustic Guitars: The '57 SJ-200 with Thermally Aged Spruce Top and Murphy Lab Aging
The Gibson 1957 SJ-200 Murphy Lab Light Aged Vintage Sunburst is one of the most impressive acoustic guitars Gibson produces. The SJ-200 has been the instrument of choice for artists needing a big, full tone for decades, and this reissue reproduces the 1957 original down to the smallest detail. The thermally aged Sitka Spruce top is the heart of the guitar: thermal treatment simulates the natural aging of the wood over decades, resulting in a more open, responsive sound that new guitars cannot match.
The flamed maple back and sides give the guitar a warm, bright tone with excellent projection, while the Murphy Lab Light Aged nitrocellulose lacquer in Vintage Sunburst completes the authentic look. The characteristic SJ-200 Four Bar Moustache bridge, the Mother-of-pearl trapezoid crown inlays, and the Gotoh tuners with keystone buttons are historically correct. The 2-piece maple neck with a rounded profile and 25.5" scale length gives the guitar its own playing feel.
Specs: thermally aged Sitka Spruce top, flamed maple back and sides, 2-piece maple neck, rosewood fretboard with Mother-of-pearl trapezoid crown inlays, 20 frets, bone nut, SJ-200 Four Bar Moustache bridge, and Gotoh tuners with keystone buttons. Delivered in a period correct case.
The SJ-200 is not a guitar that whispers to you. This is an instrument that fills the room.
