The fully acoustic Academy 12: solid top, armrest and no pickup
The Taylor Academy 12 is the acoustic version of the popular Academy 12e, without a pickup but with the same quality and playability. The solid Sitka Spruce top gives the guitar a clear string definition with enough highs to cut through the mix. The Layered Sapele back and sides give the guitar a warm, balanced tone with good midrange, similar to mahogany. The armrest keeps the top clear of the arm, which benefits resonance and playing comfort.
The Grand Concert body is more compact than a Dreadnought, which makes the guitar particularly easy to handle. The West African Ebony fretboard and the 24-7/8" scale length ensure a comfortable playing experience. For the guitarist who wants to play purely acoustic and does not need a pickup, the Academy 12 is the logical choice. The guitar comes with a sturdy gig bag.
