Olive Drab on a '59 ES-335: The Most Unexpected Color on the Most Iconic Semi-Hollow Model
The Gibson 1959 ES-335 Reissue Olive Drab Murphy Lab Heavy Aged is for the guitarist who wants something different. Olive Drab is a color rarely seen on an ES-335, and that combination with the Heavy Aged Murphy Lab treatment makes this particular model unique. The pronounced wear in the nitrocellulose lacquer, the heavily aged nickel hardware, and the worn edges give this guitar a raw, military character that stands in stark contrast to the elegance of the classic ES colors.
But the tone is anything but raw. The two Custombucker Alnico 3 humbuckers, unpotted and tuned to 1959 PAF specifications, deliver a warm, open sound with rich midrange and a transparency rarely found in modern guitars. The laminated maple body with center block gives the guitar that characteristic mix of resonance and sustain of the '59 ES-335. The Authentic '59 Medium C-Shape neck profile sits comfortably in the hand.
Specs: mahogany neck, Indian Rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays, 22 frets, Tune-O-Matic bridge, Kluson Single Line/Single Ring tuners, nickel hardware, and paper-in-oil capacitors. Supplied in a Brown/Pink Lifton Reissue 5-latch hardshell case.
Olive Drab, Heavy Aged, '59 ES-335. A combination you won't find anywhere else.
