Pelham Blue, Varitone, and Bigsby: The ES-345 as Gibson Intended It in 1964
The Gibson Custom Shop 1964 ES-345 Reissue VOS is one of the most complete semi-hollow guitars made by the Custom Shop. The combination of its Pelham Blue nitro finish, Varitone circuit, and Bigsby vibrato makes this instrument visually and tonally unmistakable. The VOS treatment gives it a subtle vintage look with a lightly matte finish that feels like the guitar has been played for years.
The two Custombucker humbuckers reproduce the warm, open tone of original PAF pickups from the late 1950s and early 1960s. The Varitone circuit adds six different tonal settings, allowing you to easily switch between frequency responses, ideal for players seeking extra tonality in blues, jazz, and vintage rock. The Bigsby vibrato enables subtle vibrato effects and gives the instrument its iconic look.
The semi-hollow body is constructed from 3-ply maple/poplar/maple with a solid center block for the perfect balance of resonance, sustain, and feedback control. The glued-in mahogany neck features an authentic '64 medium C-profile. The rosewood fretboard with split parallelogram inlays and multi-ply binding emphasize the luxurious character of the ES-345. Nickel hardware and a matching Custom Shop case complete this instrument.
A timeless semi-hollow for the player who knows what they're looking for.
