The semi-hollow classic keeping the magic of 1958 alive
The Gibson ES-335 50s is not a nostalgia project, but a meticulous reconstruction of what made the ES-335 so special when it was introduced in 1958. For the guitarist who knows what they're looking for: an instrument with character, depth, and a neck that naturally embraces your hand.
The semi-hollow thinline body made of three-ply maple, poplar, and maple gives the ES-335 50s its characteristic warmth and resonance, while the solid maple centerblock suppresses feedback and extends sustain. The result is a sound that hovers between the openness of an archtop and the directness of a solidbody. The Custombucker pickups with Alnico 3 magnets reproduce the tone of the very first PAF humbuckers from the late 1950s: warm, dynamic, and full of harmonic richness. Through the hand-wired 500k volume and tone pots and the three-way switch, you have a wide tonal palette at your disposal, from soft jazz chords to searing blues lines.
The mahogany neck features a pronounced Rounded C-profile that directly references the original "dot neck" ES-335 models. The bound rosewood fretboard has 22 medium jumbo frets with classic acrylic dot inlays. Vintage Deluxe tuners with keystone buttons and a Graph Tech nut ensure stable tuning. The ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece complete the hardware picture and contribute to strong sustain. The finish in Vintage Tobacco Burst gloss nitrocellulose lacquer gives the instrument a timeless look. Supplied with a Gibson hardshell case.
The ES-335 50s is for the player who doesn't want to compromise on feel, tone, or heritage.
