The Gibson Explorer Shred-X that literally brings Fear of the Dark to life on mahogany and ebony

This is no ordinary pre-owned Gibson. The Explorer Shred-X was already a special instrument as part of the 2008 Guitar of the Week series, a limited production where Gibson released a unique variant every week. But this particular model goes even further: the body features a completely custom Fear of the Dark airbrush paint job, executed by renowned airbrush artist Jeff Rich. For the Iron Maiden enthusiast and the serious guitar collector, this is an unrepeatable opportunity.

The Shred-X is built for speed and aggression, yet sounds nuanced and dynamic. The mahogany body and neck provide a warm, full foundation, while the EMG 85 humbuckers in both bridge and neck positions deliver a tight, defined sound with excellent attack. The Kahler tremolo offers stable tuning during intensive use, without compromising the tone. This is a guitar that sounds as good as it looks.

The Slim Taper neck with ebony fretboard and 22 frets plays incredibly fast, with a 12" radius ideal for bends and solo work. The Grover Mini Rotomatics keep the tuning accurate, and the hardware is entirely black for a coherent, dark aesthetic. Comes with original hardcase. A limited edition Gibson with unique custom artwork in this condition is rare — this is a collector's item that also wants to be played.
