The Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s Tobacco Burst: the original recipe, uncompromising
There are guitars that define a genre, and then there's the Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s in Tobacco Burst. This is not a nostalgia project. Gibson has taken the specifications of the original 1950s Les Paul as a starting point and executed them with modern precision: a solid mahogany body with an AA figured maple top, Burstbucker pickups with AlNiCo II magnets, and a neck profile that directly references the thick, rounded '50s feel that so many guitarists seek. For the player who knows what they want and won't settle for less.
The sound of the Standard '50s revolves around the Burstbucker 1 and 2, Gibson's most faithful interpretation of the original P.A.F. humbuckers. The Burstbucker 1 in the neck is slightly warmer and rounder, the Burstbucker 2 in the bridge slightly brighter and more present. Together, they deliver that unmistakable Les Paul tone: full, warm, and with sustain that lets notes hang long after you've struck them. The figured maple top contributes to a bright attack on top of the warm mahogany base, a combination that has been the foundation of rock, blues, and everything in between for decades.
The neck is mahogany with a Vintage '50s profile and a rosewood fretboard with acrylic trapezoid inlays and 22 frets. The scale length is 628 mm. The ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge in combination with an aluminum stopbar tailpiece ensures excellent intonation and vibration transfer to the body. The Gibson Deluxe tuners with keystone knobs and aged tophat controls complete the vintage-faithful picture. The electronics consist of two volume and two tone controls with a toggle switch. Delivered including a luxury case.
The Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s in Tobacco Burst is an instrument that needs no introduction, only an amplifier.
