The Signature Guitar That Captures Johnny Marr's Tone Down to the Extra String

The Martin M-7 Johnny Marr Signature is built around one specific musical vision: the rich, layered guitar textures of the man behind The Smiths and Modest Mouse. Its most striking feature is the extra G string — a seventh string that gives the guitar a uniquely full sound and allows for chord voicings and arrangements simply not possible on a standard 6-string. This is no gimmick, but an instrument designed out of an artistic necessity.

The solid East Indian rosewood back and sides give the M-7 a deep, complex resonance with a pronounced midrange that supports Marr's signature sound. The spruce top with X-bracing responds quickly and dynamically, making the guitar particularly well-suited for the rhythmic, chord-driven playing style for which Marr is known. The 000-14-fret body ensures a balanced tone that is never overwhelming, even with the extra string.

The mahogany neck has a dovetail joint and features an ebony fingerboard with Style 28 inlays and 20 frets. The chrome enclosed tuners keep all seven strings stably in tune. The 25.4" scale length provides sufficient tension for clear articulation across the entire range. Supplied with a hardshell case.

For the guitarist who wants to go beyond the standard palette and is looking for an instrument with its own voice and a unique musical legacy.
