Supro Ambassador Custom Combo

The Supro Ambassador Custom Combo builds clean headroom from two BD10 speakers

The Supro Ambassador Custom Combo is a hand-built Custom Shop tube combo from the United States, intended for guitarists who are looking for a clear clean sound and plenty of headroom. Inside, carefully selected Mercury transformers, Mallory capacitors, and matched EHX tubes work together to create a refined foundation. The amplifier allows your picking attack and guitar to come through clearly, ensuring that nuances in your playing remain easy to follow.

With the switch, you can choose between Class A at 35 watts and Class AB at 50 watts. In Class A, the midrange is more forward and the amplifier reaches overdrive sooner. Class AB sounds more open, with a slight dip in the midrange. This allows you to tailor the response and character to your playing style, whether you are primarily looking for a clear foundation or prefer a bit more emphasis and tube break-up.

Two Supro BD10 speakers provide a clear and spacious sound. The tube-driven spring reverb adds depth without the need for extra effects. The controls consist of Volume, Treble, Mid, Bass, Reverb, and Master. The preamp uses three 12AX7 tubes and one 12AT7; the power amp features two 5881/6L6WGC tubes. The combination of these tubes and the two speakers gives the Ambassador its distinct clean character and clear response.

The Ambassador does not have an effects loop, but it does have a jack for a single footswitch and speaker outputs for 16, 8, and 4 ohms. The finish in Black Scandia with gold accents underscores its Custom Shop character. If you are looking for a premium Supro amplifier with plenty of clean headroom and switchable Class A or Class AB response, the Ambassador is a special candidate.
