The Builder's Edition that shows what happens when Taylor combines a rare wood with its most advanced technology
Sinker Redwood is not a wood you just come across. These are centuries-old Redwood logs that have lain at the bottom of rivers for decades, allowing the wood to develop a unique density and resonance that fresh woods cannot match. Taylor has combined this special material as a top with Honduran Rosewood for the back and sides, and the result is a Grand Auditorium that sounds as exceptional as it looks.
The sound is warm and complex, with a rich midrange you'd expect from Honduran Rosewood, complemented by the open, airy quality of the Sinker Redwood top. The V-Class bracing ensures perfect intonation across the entire fretboard and sustain that lingers long. The beveled cutaway provides access to the high positions without compromising volume, and the Expression System 2 pickup accurately translates the acoustic sound for amplified playing.
The mahogany neck features the classic Taylor neck profile and transitions into a West African Crelicam ebony fretboard with MOP Element inlays. The Gotoh 510 Antique Gold tuners with matching buttons give this instrument a timeless appearance. The scale length is 25.5" with 20 frets, the construction is bolt-on neck, and the instrument comes with a hardcase.
The Taylor Builder's Edition 814ce Sinker Redwood is an instrument for the player who looks beyond the standard range and is looking for something truly special. Come and play it and discover the difference.
