The 12-string Jumbo that brings fifty years of Taylor craftsmanship into one instrument
The Taylor Legacy Series 855e is no ordinary reissue. It is a tribute to the guitars with which Taylor made its name — the Indian Rosewood/Sitka Spruce combination that set the standard in the brand's early days. The first 20 units are signed by founders Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug, but even without a signature, this is an instrument with a special story.
Anyone who plays the 855e immediately hears why this combination is so beloved. The Sitka Spruce top provides a clear, detailed tone with excellent projection, while the Indian Rosewood back and sides ensure warmth and depth in the lows. The Jumbo body shape amplifies this even further, especially when strumming — the 12 strings effortlessly fill the space. The "old school" X-bracing gives the guitar an open, organic character that strongly resembles the original from the seventies. The LR Baggs Element VTC ensures a natural amplified sound that leaves the acoustic qualities completely intact.
The 855e is built with a mahogany neck, a West African Crelicam Ebony fingerboard, a 1-7/8" nut, and a 25-1/2" scale length. The Moustache bridge — an iconic detail from the early Taylor years — has returned on the Jumbo models, giving the guitar its unmistakable vintage character. The glossy finish on the body and neck, the D'Addario XS Coated Phosphor Bronze Light 12-string strings, and the included luxury Taylor Hardshell case make this a complete, ready-to-play set for the demanding guitarist.
The Taylor Legacy Series 855e is an instrument for those who know what they are looking for: a 12-string Jumbo with historical roots, modern reliability, and a tone that is instantly recognizable as Taylor.
